Would you like to install electricity in your garden shed or barn? We can provide you with the right cabling to do the job.
Why Underground power cables?
When installing electricity outdoors, it is important to use special Underground power cables. Since it is not permitted to lay electricity cables above ground in the United Kingdom, these cables must be buried in the ground at a minimum depth of 50 centimetres. Not every cable can be buried, which is why it is important to choose a special Underground power cable. An underground cable consists of electrical wires that are protected by a steel braided sheath. If the cable is damaged, the sheath will be affected first, followed by a live wire. This will cause the earth leakage circuit breaker or the maximum circuit breaker to switch off immediately, disconnecting the underground cable from the power supply.
What are XMVK-AS Underground power cables?
The underground power cables we offer are XMVK-AS cables. The XMVK-AS is a ground cable with a small bending radius and a small diameter. This cable is suitable for light applications with a voltage of up to 450/750V and simple connections, such as installing a number of sockets in a garden shed or barn. The Underground power cables can be installed at both ends, in your house and in your garden shed, in the familiar grey junction box with waterproof glands. Because the cable cores are solid, they can be terminated with standard terminal blocks.
Underground power cables or outdoor cables
Underground power cables are ideal for use underground, but can of course also be used above ground. Due to its sturdy shielding, the cable is not very flexible, and the bending radius will be too large to neatly go around a corner. If you want to place electrical wires on the walls, it is best to use an outdoor cable. This can be connected to an underground cable, allowing you to run part of it underground.
