Beautiful during the day too
Most outdoor lighting is there just to provide light; these solar models are designed to look good too. During the day, they add a decorative touch to your garden, and in the evening they switch on automatically thanks to the built-in light sensor. That makes them doubly useful: you get both garden decoration and lighting without having to switch anything on.
Where do you place them?
Place them where you want to draw the eye: in a border among the plants, beside a pond, on a patio or by the entrance. Because they are mainly decorative, they work best as an accent rather than as lighting for a whole path. One or two in the right spot can have more impact than ten scattered around the garden. And because there is no cable attached, you can move them around just as easily.
Soft light, not a spotlight
Decorative solar lamps usually give soft, atmospheric light. That is the intention: it is about the glow rather than brightness. If you want to properly light a path or make sure you can walk around safely, take a look at the solar bollard lights or our mains-powered outdoor floor lamps.
Good to know
Give the lamp a spot where the panel gets plenty of sunlight: how long it stays on depends on this, and it will usually stay on for less time in winter than in summer. With solar models, the LED is already built in, so you do not need to choose a bulb yourself. Pay attention to the stated protection rating (IP rating), and preferably bring decorative models indoors in severe weather or frost.
