Cool white GU10 bulbs

What is cool white?

The colour temperature of a bulb is measured in Kelvin: the higher the number, the cooler and clearer the light. While warm white is around 2700K, cool white is higher, usually around 4000K. The light is more neutral and crisp. You see colours more accurately with it, and it helps you stay more alert. For GU10 spotlights this is the functional choice.

Where do you use it?

Cool white is ideal anywhere you need to see clearly rather than create a cosy atmosphere, such as in the kitchen above the worktop, so you can see what you are cutting clearly. It also works well in a work space, storage room, garage or warehouse, where functional lighting matters more than cosiness. Warm white is better suited to the living room or bedroom.

Combine it with the right beam angle

A narrow beam angle works well above a worktop: the light falls directly on the area where you are working. If you want to light a whole room evenly, such as a storage room or hallway, a wide beam angle is more effective.

Both worlds

If your kitchen is in the same room as your dining table, you want clear light during the day and atmosphere in the evening. You can achieve this by switching the spotlights above the worktop separately from the rest, or by using dimmable bulbs. Spotlights with an adjustable light colour are also an option; see the product details for more information.
