No mains charging, no switching on and off
A solar table lamp takes care of itself: it charges its built-in battery during the day, and the lamp switches on automatically when it gets dark thanks to the built-in light sensor. So you don't need to think about charging it, finding a mains connection or even flicking a switch. This makes it ideal for a garden table, low wall or windowsill, or in harder-to-reach places in your garden.
Give it plenty of sun
The panel needs plenty of sunlight during the day to charge the battery, so you need to think about where you put the lamp. This can be trickier with a table lamp, as garden tables are often under a parasol or canopy. If your table doesn't get much sun, a rechargeable table lamp may be a better option. You can simply charge it whenever you need to.
Atmosphere, not reading light
Solar table lamps usually give a soft, atmospheric light: enough to make your table feel cosy, but not enough to read by. That is part of their appeal. If you want more brightness, take a look at our mains-powered models.
Good to know
The LED is already built into the solar lamp, so you do not need to choose a bulb yourself. The lamp will usually stay on for less time in winter than in summer because there is less sunlight to charge the battery. Always check the stated protection rating (IP rating) in the product details. You can find more solar options in our solar lighting range.
