Softer than black
Anthracite is a dark grey that feels slightly softer than black, making it a calmer choice for a façade. Choose an anthracite model for a timeless, understated look. It works particularly well with a home that has anthracite window frames, gutters or window ledges, as the outdoor wall light blends naturally into the overall look.
Which façade does it suit?
Anthracite works well with modern homes with grey or dark accents, but also against a light façade, where the contrast is softer than with black. Anthracite often works particularly well with the colour of the mortar on a brick façade. If you have a light or white façade and want the lamp to blend into the background, take a look at the white wall lights.
Which light direction do you choose?
A lamp that shines both upwards and downwards creates two beams of light on your façade, making it a good choice for adding an accent along a wall. A model that shines only downwards provides directed lighting for your path or door and causes less light nuisance. With an anthracite lamp, the lighting effect stands out more because the lamp itself remains understated and the light takes centre stage.
What to look for
Pay attention to the stated protection rating (IP rating), which indicates how well a lamp is protected against rain and moisture, and consider where you plan to install the lamp. Many models are suitable for an E27 or GU10 bulb; there are also fittings with integrated LED. If you want the lamp to switch on automatically, take a look at the models with a sensor.
