What is an E27 bulb fitting?
E27 is the most common bulb fitting. The "E" means the bulb has a screw base, while "27" refers to the diameter of the screw thread: 27 mm. Many old incandescent bulbs have been replaced by LED bulbs with an E27 fitting. LED bulbs can give a similar look to traditional incandescent bulbs, while using less energy and lasting longer.
Which size do you choose?
The diameters of our E27 bulbs range from 45 mm to 200 mm. A 60 mm bulb fits most of our indoor and outdoor lamps and is the standard size. If you have a smaller shade or compact fitting, choose 45 mm. Going for a cord pendant? Combine it with a large XL bulb to create a real focal point.
Glass and filament
Our E27 bulbs are available in clear and amber glass. For a warmer, more atmospheric look, choose an amber glass bulb. Clear glass gives a brighter, clearer look. Filament bulbs have a visible filament inside, often with a spiral design. You will find different filament styles, including the croissant spiral, double-decker filament and horizontal spiral, so you can choose the look that suits your lamp.
Dimming: three ways
All bulbs in our E27 range are dimmable as standard. You can dim these bulbs with an external dimmer that you can also buy from us. Prefer not to use an external dimmer? A 3-step dimmable LED bulb is a handy alternative: briefly switch the lamp off and on to change the brightness. Do you want to dim the light colour as well as the brightness? Then a dim-to-warm bulb is the solution.
For outdoors too
Using an outdoor fitting? Our E27 LED bulbs can create a warm atmosphere outdoors too. Choose an outdoor fitting with the right protection rating (IP rating) and complete it with an E27 LED bulb.
