Dimming without a dimmer

A 3-step dimmable LED filament bulb has a built-in dimming function, so you can adjust the brightness using the ordinary on/off switch. This gives you the flexibility to use the bulb for atmospheric lighting or turn it up when you need more light. You do not need to change the wiring, making it ideal for a rented home or if you do not want to install a dimmer.

How does it work?

You can choose from three brightness levels: 100%, 50% and 7%. Briefly switch the light off and on once to move to the next setting. You can therefore dim the bulb without a separate dimmer. If you switch the light off normally, the bulb remembers the last setting you used.

No external dimmer

This is the most important thing to know: 3-step dimmable bulbs are not compatible with external dimmers. The dimming function is already built into the bulb, so you should not use a wall dimmer switch or inline dimmer with it. If you already have a dimmer installed and want smooth dimming, choose a standard dimmable bulb from our E27 range instead.

Sizes and light colour

You will find 3-step dimmable bulbs in 45 mm and 60 mm, in clear and amber glass. The colour temperature of white bulbs is expressed in Kelvin: the lower the number, the warmer the light. 2700K is warm white, while 2200K is similar to candlelight and gives an extra warm white. There are also 3-step dimmable bulbs for E14 and G9 fittings.
