Instant atmosphere above your patio
Want to create a cosy atmosphere straight away? Then festoon lighting is an excellent choice. It is ideal above a patio, veranda, canopy or outdoor kitchen, and is also widely used at garden parties and in the hospitality sector. Our robust cables are made from high-quality rubber with 2 x 1.5 mm² copper wiring and have an IP44 rating. Thanks to their professional quality, they are suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Where do you find what?
Festoon lighting sets come complete with bulbs, ready to use straight away. Separate festoon cables are supplied with fitted bulb sockets, without bulbs, so you can choose them yourself. There are also cables without bulb sockets, allowing you to put together your own setup. Under parts, you will find bulb sockets, dimmers, extension cables, poles and more. Festoon bulbs come in warm white, coloured or glass versions. Festoon light shades add an extra decorative touch. There are also push-in bulbs without an E27 bulb socket.
How many bulb sockets per metre?
To make this choice, it helps to know how the festoon cable will be hung. When a festoon cable is strung in a straight line, the best effect is created with two bulb sockets per metre. When a festoon cable is strung twice over the same stretch, for example, one bulb socket per metre may be enough. The wattage of the bulbs and your own preference naturally play a part too. The option most commonly chosen by our customers is two bulb sockets per metre.
Pay attention to the maximum load
When choosing and extending festoon cables, make sure you do not exceed the maximum permitted load. The bulb sockets can handle a maximum of 15W per bulb socket, while the festoon cables can handle a maximum total wattage of 2300W. With LED bulbs of 0.7 to 2W, you will not reach that limit quickly, but with a long cable or higher-wattage bulbs, it is worth doing the maths.
Hanging
Hanging a festoon cable is easy. With our mounting sets or cable ties, you can attach the festoon cable securely. Do note that the end cap is not suitable for hanging the festoon cable from. If you do not have a façade or canopy to attach it to, take a look at our poles. If you want the cable to switch on automatically, a dusk sensor is a handy option.
