Choosing your own bulbs

With a separate festoon cable, you get the cable with fitted bulb sockets, including sealing rings, plug and end cap. You choose the bulbs yourself. This is handy if you know exactly what atmosphere you want, want to combine different bulbs or already have bulbs at home. Simply screw in the E27 bulbs, hang the festoon cable and you are ready to go. Choose warm white bulbs to create a cosy atmosphere, or coloured bulbs for a more festive look.

Connectable and robust

Not sure how long your festoon cable will eventually need to be, or want the option to extend it later? Then choose one of our connectable festoon cables. You can connect the cables together, so if you need more length later, you can simply extend your setup. The robust cables are made from high-quality rubber with 2 x 1.5 mm² copper wiring, have an IP44 rating and are impact-resistant. The bulb sockets are already fitted, and the cable comes with an end cap and sealing rings. The plug type is Schuko (Type F).

How many bulb sockets per metre?

When a festoon cable is strung in a straight line, two bulb sockets per metre generally give the best effect. If the cable is strung twice over the same stretch, one bulb socket per metre may be enough. Most of our customers choose two bulb sockets per metre. When choosing and extending your cable, make sure you do not exceed the maximum load: the bulb sockets can handle a maximum of 15W each, while the festoon cables can handle a maximum of 2300W.

Hanging

The cable is easy to attach with a mounting set or cable ties. Do note that the end cap is not suitable for hanging the festoon cable from. We recommend creating a hanging loop with the supplied cable tie. The festoon cable should also be supported or attached every 3 metres. In open areas where the cable is exposed to strong gusts of wind, we recommend attaching or supporting it every metre. If you do not have a façade or canopy to attach it to, take a look at our poles.

The next step is to choose the number of fittings. To make this choice, it is good to know how the Festoon lighting cables will be hung. For example, if a Festoon lighting cable is stretched twice over the same section, one fitting per metre may be sufficient. If a Festoon lighting cable is stretched in a straight line, for example, the best effect is created with two lampholders per metre. The wattage of the bulbs and your own preference also play a role in making the choice. The most popular option among our customers is two lampholders per metre. 

Maximum wattage

When choosing and extending Festoon lighting cables, make sure you do not exceed the maximum wattage that can be used. The lampholders can handle a maximum of 15 watts per lampholder. The Festoon lighting cables can handle a maximum wattage of 2300 watts. 

Hanging the Festoon lighting cable

Hanging Festoon lighting cables is easy. You can easily attach the Festoon lighting cables using our mounting sets or cable ties. Please note that the End cap is not suitable for hanging the Festoon lighting cables. We recommend creating a hanging loop with the supplied cable tie. The Festoon lighting cables should also be supported or secured every 3 metres. In open areas where the Festoon lighting cables are exposed to strong gusts of wind, we recommend securing or supporting the Festoon lighting cables every metre.
