Why choose clear glass?

Clear glass is completely clear and see-through. As a result, a glass ceiling light with clear glass spreads the light more powerfully than one with tinted or opaque glass: you lose nothing in light output. At the same time, the bulb stays fully visible, so it becomes part of the design. The glass itself looks light and timeless, which means it suits almost any interior.

Because you can see through the glass, the bulb has a big influence on how the ceiling light looks. A filament bulb with a visible filament can instantly turn a simple clear shade into a statement piece. If you prefer the bulb to stay hidden, opal-white glass is the better choice. If you’re looking for a warmer or more subdued atmosphere, take a look at amber glass or smoked glass.

For which room?

Clear glass suits modern, minimalist or industrial interiors, but also works well in rural or vintage interiors. Because the light stays bright, it is a good choice for the hallway, landing or kitchen. Do keep in mind that a visible bulb can make the light feel brighter: if you hang the lamp in the bedroom, choose a bulb with a lower light output or a dimmable model.

Which light bulb do you choose?

Clear glass ceiling lights usually have an E27 lamp holder, while smaller models often have an E14 or G9 lamp holder. Choose warm white light (around 2700K) for a cosy atmosphere.
