Fully self-sufficient

A solar table lamp takes care of itself: during the day, the panel charges the battery, and thanks to the built-in light sensor, the lamp switches on automatically as soon as it gets dark. You do not need to charge it manually, connect a cable or switch it on yourself. Place it on your garden table, a low wall or a windowsill and let it do its thing.

Give it plenty of sun

This is the main thing to keep in mind with a solar table lamp. How long the lamp stays on depends on how much sunlight the panel receives during the day, so it needs plenty of direct sunlight. That can be difficult if your garden table is in the shade of a parasol or canopy. Move the lamp somewhere sunnier during the day if needed, or choose a rechargeable table lamp: you can charge that whenever it suits you.

Atmosphere, not reading light

Solar table lamps give soft, atmospheric light: just enough to make your table feel cosy, but not enough to read by. That is not a shortcoming, but part of their purpose. Several small lamps on the table can often look better than one bright lamp: you get a gentle glow rather than a spotlight.

Good to know

With solar models, the LED is already built in, so you do not need to choose a bulb yourself. The lamp will usually stay on for less time in winter than in summer. Pay attention to the stated protection rating (IP rating) in the product details, and bring the lamp indoors in severe weather. You can also take a look at our other outdoor table lamps.
