Outdoor Ceiling lights

Looking for a ceiling light for outdoors? A sleek fit for your canopy or veranda: never in the way and resistant to moisture.

Outdoor Ceiling lights

Light under your canopy

If you have a canopy, veranda, carport or porch above your front door, a ceiling light is the smart choice. It sits neatly against the ceiling, so it is never in the way, even when you walk underneath it or put up a parasol. While an outdoor pendant light adds atmosphere and stands out, a ceiling light mainly does its job: providing even light across the whole space.

The IP rating applies under a roof too

This is the important point to keep in mind. A canopy may seem sheltered, but wind-driven rain can still get in, and there can be plenty of moisture in the air in winter. A lamp intended for indoor use therefore does not belong there. Always pay attention to the stated protection rating (IP rating) and make sure it is suitable for the location: a closed veranda has different requirements from an open carport.

What to look for

Consider the mounting height in relation to your canopy: outdoors, this is often lower than an indoor ceiling. Also think about the brightness you need. Under a carport, you want to see where you are walking, while a lounge area may benefit from softer light. Models with a sensor are handy by a carport or back entrance, where you often arrive with your hands full.

Bulb

Many models are suitable for an E27 or GU10 bulb, so you can choose the light colour yourself. There are also fittings with integrated LED. Choose warm white light for a cosy canopy, or cool white for a carport or storage space. Order before 2pm for same day shipping.
