Keeps the room clear
A wall light is a practical choice for a children's room. Because it's fixed to the wall, it can't be knocked over during play, and there's no cord trailing across the desk or bedside table. It also keeps the surface clear, which is particularly useful on a desk covered with exercise books or a small bedside table.
Adjustable for homework and reading
Choose a model with a rotatable or extendable arm, so you can direct the light where you need it. Above the bed, you can point it towards a book, while above the desk, you can direct it onto homework. When you're finished, simply move the lamp back towards the wall. An adjustable wall light can therefore work well as your child grows, from a bedside reading light to a practical desk light.
How high should you hang it?
As a general rule, you shouldn't be able to look directly into the bulb. Beside the bed, hang the lamp at a height where the light falls onto the book when your child is sitting upright. Keep in mind that your child will grow, so it's worth positioning the lamp slightly higher and choosing a model with an adjustable arm. That way, you can continue to direct the light where it's needed.
Light and bulb
Choose warm white light (around 2700K) for winding down before bed, and cool white light for homework at the desk. Our wall lights are suitable for bulbs with an E27, E14 or G9 bulb fitting. The bulb you need is listed in the specifications for each wall light.
