Light from the side of the mirror

A wall light helps solve a common bathroom lighting problem. Light from above can cast shadows on your face, making it harder to see clearly when shaving, applying make-up or following your skincare routine. Lighting from the sides helps reduce these shadows. Two wall lights on either side of the mirror provide more even lighting, while a single light above the mirror may be less effective.

Pay attention to the protection rating

Bathroom wall lights must be suitable for damp conditions. Always check the stated protection rating (IP rating) for the intended location, as the requirements differ depending on the bathroom zone. If you are unsure which rating is required, check the applicable regulations and consult a qualified electrician for installation.

At what height?

Position wall lights beside the mirror at around eye level or slightly above, so the light falls on your face rather than above it. Ideally, you should not be able to look directly into the bulb. Choose a model with a closed shade or opal-white glass to distribute the light more evenly and reduce glare.

Light and alternatives

Cool white light works well when shaving or applying make-up, helping you see clearly. If you prefer not to drill holes or install separate wall lights, consider other bathroom lighting options that provide good visibility without taking up too much space.
