Control your lighting via an app

A smart bulb connects to your Wi-Fi, so you can control it using an app on your phone. You can switch the light on and off, dim it and, with many models, adjust the light colour from warm white for a cosy evening to cool white for working. You can even control the light when you're not at home.

Switching individual lights on one circuit

This is perhaps the smartest use. With a 1-phase track system, all the spotlights are on a single circuit, so they normally switch on and off together. If you want to control individual spotlights, you can do this with smart GU10 bulbs. This gives you the flexibility of a 3-phase system without needing a 3-phase track.

Schedules and scenes

With the app, you can create schedules to suit your routine and preferences, such as having the lights come on around the time you get home or dim automatically in the evening. When you're on holiday, this can also make your home look occupied. Some models have an RGB function, allowing you to choose the colour yourself.

What to look for

Check which bulb fitting your lamp has: smart bulbs are available with GU10 and E27 fittings, among others. Keep in mind that the bulb needs to remain connected to the power supply for you to control it via the app, so leave the wall switch on. Do not use an external dimmer with smart bulbs. You can dim them via the app instead.
