Warm white GU10 bulbs
The light colour of white bulbs is expressed in Kelvin. The rule is simple: the lower the number, the warmer the light colour. Warm white is around 2700K and is similar to the light of an old-fashioned incandescent bulb. This is the warm, cosy light we associate with a slight golden tint, making a room feel warm and inviting. For GU10 spotlights this is the most popular light colour.
Where do you use it?
In the living room, bedroom, dining room and hallway: anywhere atmosphere matters more than seeing details clearly. Warm white also works well above a dining table or in a reading corner. If you want to see details clearly instead, for example in the kitchen or bathroom, cool white is a better choice.
Combine it with the right beam angle
The light colour determines the atmosphere, while the beam angle determines where the light falls. If you want to highlight a painting, cabinet or object, choose a narrow beam angle. For general lighting, a wide beam angle works better. Both are available in warm white.
Even warmer or dimmable?
If you want the light to become even warmer as you dim it, like an incandescent bulb, take a look at the dim-to-warm bulbs. They go down to extra warm white (2200K), similar to candlelight. If you simply want to be able to dim the light, choose a dimmable GU10 bulb in combination with a dimmer, or a 3-step dimmable version without a dimmer.
