Why choose smoked glass?

Smoked glass is grey-tinted glass that softens the light and creates a more subdued glow. It gives a glass ceiling light a refined, slightly mysterious look. Many models also have a mirror effect, so the globes create a luxurious accent during the day, even when the light is switched off. As the glass is semi-transparent, the light source remains subtly visible.

Which interior style does smoked glass suit?

Smoked glass works perfectly in sleek, modern or industrial interiors. Combined with black metal, it creates a rugged look, while smoked glass with gold or brass has a chic, hotel-inspired feel. Some models also feature crystal accents. If you prefer a warmer glow rather than a cooler hue, take a look at the ceiling lights with amber glass.

For which room?

Smoked glass is primarily a design choice that helps create a warm, atmospheric feel. Its subdued light works beautifully in the living room, hallway or bedroom. Tinted glass lets through less light than opal-white or clear glass. For a workspace, kitchen or storage room, where you need task lighting, a lighter type of glass or a model with several light points is a better choice.

Which light bulb do you choose?

Most smoked glass ceiling lights work with an E27 lamp holder; models with smaller globes or spotlights often use an E14 or G9 lamp holder. A filament bulb with warm white light (around 2700K) creates an especially atmospheric glow through the tinted glass. As smoked glass lets through less light, you can choose a slightly higher light output. The bulb fitting and size you need are always listed in the product details.
