Why choose amber glass?

Amber glass has a warm, honey-coloured hue that gives the light a soft glow. That is exactly what makes a glass ceiling light so pleasant: the base lighting stays functional, but never becomes cold or bare. Because the glass lets light through, the light source stays visible, which looks great with a decorative filament bulb. That way you get even light with a cosy look.

Combining amber with black or gold

Amber glass is usually combined with a metal frame. Paired with black you get a rugged, industrial look; with gold or brass a chic, warm feel that you see more often in hotels. You will find amber in various shapes: from a single oval shade to multi-light models with glass globes or adjustable spotlights. If you are looking for a cooler, more modern hue, take a look at the ceiling lights with smoked glass.

For which room?

Amber glass works particularly well in a landing, hallway or bedroom. It gives off a soft, glare-free light and instantly adds warmth to a living room. If you want as much light output as possible, for example in the kitchen or storage room, opal-white glass is a better choice, as amber glass reduces the amount of light that comes through.

Which light bulb do you choose?

Most amber glass ceiling lights have an E27 lamp holder, while multi-light models with smaller shades often have an E14 or G9 lamp holder. A filament bulb with warm white light (around 2700K) enhances the golden glow of the glass. Pay attention to the maximum wattage and the size of the light source: a Ø45 mm bulb will often fit in a smaller shade, while a Ø60 mm bulb may be too large. The required lamp holder and bulb size are always listed in the product details.
