Complete casting sleeve package - IP54
This complete casting sleeve package comes with an IP54 cable box with 5 inputs, casting resin, 3 x cable glands, 4 x quadruple splice terminals, terminal block for earth wire and a set of gloves for installation and your safety.
A casting sleeve is a mould in which the cable connection is made and then filled with casting resin. The mould serves to hold the liquid casting resin in place until it has hardened. Thanks to the high IP54 protection rating and the resin, a casting sleeve can be buried underground to neatly conceal your cables.
Manual:
- Place the glands in the desired locations in the cable box and tighten them with some force to loosen the sealing plates.
- Strip the Underground power cables, cut away the steel sheath and expose the ground litz wire. Feed the Underground power cables into the cable box through the gland and then tighten the glands.
- Connect the wires using the supplied solder terminals and the earth wire to the supplied terminal block.
- Check that the connection is working; once the resin is in place, you will no longer be able to access it.
- Put on gloves and remove the sealing strip from the casting resin.
- Cut a corner off the casting resin packaging and carefully pour the contents into the cable box.
- Allow the cable box filled with casting resin to harden for one hour.
- Screw the lid onto the cable box.
- Bury the cable box in the ground and ensure that it is completely covered.
