A string light is ideal for creating a cosy atmosphere in your garden or on your patio. The lights provide sufficient light, making them ideal for a late summer evening or a cool winter night under the heat lamp. You can choose from different lengths of string and a wide range of lights. This means you can always choose the right mood lighting for your situation.
Ideal as string lights for the garden, patio or balcony
Most customers buy our cords as outdoor lighting. The cords are ideal for this, as they provide sufficient light everywhere. A single lamp provides a well-lit spot, but the rest of your garden will still be dark. A string of lights ensures even light distribution in your garden, patio or balcony. This allows you to enjoy the outdoors even longer in the evening.
What are the cables made of?
The cables are made of high-quality rubber. Each cable has dimensions of 2x1.5mm2, making it sturdy and able to withstand rough handling. This means that the cables are also suitable for outdoor use, unlike cheap cables that only have a thin wire.
The wiring is made of copper, which makes the cable more flexible and conducts better than other cheaper cables with Aluminium wiring. This makes the cord easy to hang and ensures that the String light will last a long time.
Solar string lights or normal string lights?
We have recently started offering Solar string lights. These strings do not require an electricity connection. You can simply hang them in the garden and stick the Solar panel in the ground (or attach it in another way so that it catches the light).
Does the string light include LED bulbs?
Because every garden is different, on this page you can choose between string lights with and without LED bulbs. The advantage of a string with bulbs is that you do not have to assemble the string yourself. The bulbs are already glued in place, so the entire string is delivered as one unit. This is convenient if you want to hang the string immediately after receiving it, without having to screw in the bulbs yourself. The string is therefore ready for immediate use.
The fact that the lights are already glued in place also means that you cannot replace them when they reach the end of their lifespan. Fortunately, the standard lifespan is 20,000 hours per LED bulb. If you were to have the lights on every evening, that would be about 1,500 hours per year. The lights would therefore last more than 10 years with intensive use. Most people will therefore be able to enjoy their string of lights for even longer.
However, if you want more choice in terms of LED bulbs or if you have the lights on all day every day, we recommend purchasing a separate string of lights without bulbs. You can then purchase the correct LED bulbs yourself. This gives you a wider choice than our glued-in string lights. You can choose from the following styles, among others:
- Transparent bulbs or bulbs with a white shade
- Dimmable or non-dimmable lights
- Different wattages (0.6 watts to 3 watts)
- Different colour temperatures (2000 or 2650 Kelvin)
- White or coloured LED bulbs
You can also replace these lights when they reach the end of their lifespan. The cable remains in good condition, so you only need to screw in new lights.
If you buy the bulbs and the String light separately, you can assemble them yourself. This is not a big job; if you have purchased a 50-metre cable with 100 bulbs, it will take about 15 minutes. To make screwing them in quicker and easier, you can apply a little Vaseline to the socket of the fittings. This will make each bulb much easier to screw into the fitting.
Need help choosing the right size of string light?
If you choose String lights with glued-on lights, you will notice that the dimensions may be a little strange. This is because these strings are composed of 10-metre and 25-metre strings. The 10-metre string has 1 metre of connection wire and the 25-metre string has 1.5 metres. Since only one power cable is needed, we remove the excess power cable. For example, a 50-metre string consists of two 25-metre strings. Here, 1.5 metres is removed, giving us a total length of 48.5 metres.
Below is an overview of how the pre-made string lights are constructed:

If you choose our String lights without bulbs, you can choose from different sizes ranging from 5 to 100 metres. If you want a longer string, we recommend choosing a connectable version. As the name suggests, you can connect these to another string. The advantage is that you only need one power socket for a longer string. Please note that the maximum length that one standard socket can power depends on the wattage of the bulbs. One socket can power approximately 350 metres of 1-watt bulbs.
Are the outdoor string lights water-resistant?
All our String lights are splash-proof. This means that they can easily withstand a Dutch rain shower. However, they cannot be submerged in water.
It is important to note that our LED lights are IP20 certified. When you insert the lights into a light string fitting and tighten it normally, the fitting will clamp around the light. This makes the light in a light string as a whole water-resistant (IP44).
How can I order the string lights?
Good question! If you are convinced of the quality of our cords, it can sometimes still be difficult to decide exactly which variant you need.
The most important things to know are:
- How many metres do you need?
- How much light do you want the string to give?
The first question is fairly easy to answer by walking around your garden or balcony. You can estimate how many metres you need. If you are unsure between two sizes (for example, 20 or 25 metres for a distance of 22 metres), we recommend choosing the longer size. A longer string can be left to hang loosely, allowing it to cover a shorter distance. To make a string that is too short longer, you will need an extra extension cable. However, this does not have any lights, so in this case your string will start a little further away.
The second question is more difficult to answer. If you want to hang the cord in your garden, we recommend choosing dimmable lights with a higher wattage. This allows you to set the amount of light the lights give off yourself, so it is always just right.
In terms of light colour, most people choose 2000 Kelvin. This is the warm white colour we are used to from incandescent bulbs. If you prefer a brighter white, or if you want to hang lanterns around the lights, you can choose 2650 Kelvin.
If you are not satisfied with your choice after purchasing the lights, you can of course return your string light and/or bulbs. If you have any questions about quality or need help choosing the right string light, please do not hesitate to contact us via chat or telephone. We are happy to help you make the right choice.
