A different system

Where most festoon bulbs have an E27 bulb fitting that you screw into a bulb socket, a push-in bulb works differently: you push it directly into the cable. Hence the name. The system is more compact and gives a more delicate lighting effect: you get a series of small points of light rather than hanging globes.

Note: not interchangeable

Important to know: push-in bulbs do not fit an ordinary festoon cable with E27 bulb sockets, and vice versa. They are two different systems. So always check which type of cable you have or want to buy before ordering bulbs. The product details state which bulbs go with which cable.

Where do you use them?

Push-in bulbs give a more delicate, decorative lighting effect than larger hanging bulbs. This works well along a pergola, fence or in a tree, where you mainly want atmosphere rather than a strong point of light. Good to know

Make sure the bulbs are pushed properly and fully into the cable. Only then is the connection protected against moisture. It is also worth ordering a spare bulb, because once the cable is hung, you do not want to take everything down just to replace one bulb.
